It is a painful day for most African across the globe who have been following the world cup in South Africa with keen interest. Expecially after seing the host country South Africa, Nigeria and Ivory Coast crashing out in the first round and other big footballing nations such as France and England. (Probably the best save of the competition)
African should be proud of what the Ghanians have achieved so far, they played well but were unlucky, In the face of defeat they stood strong, they were not outplayed or outclassed by the glossiness of Uruguay football, one would have imagine that Ghana would be a spectator of the South American artistry of fine foot walk but it was a day that Africans will never forget.
Yes, we congratulate Uruguay for heading into the Semi final but they will have to play far more better to have any hope against the Dutch team that sends the Brazilians parking.
It's so sad that Africans hope of a semi final appearance was so bright towards the last few seconds of the second half extra time but the hands of Suarez who suddenly turned himself to a goal keeper denied them a clear passage to semi final.
Though Suarez was sent off but he will now be proclaim an hero in Uruguay, Ghana had their chances even before the die minute penalty but it wasn't their day. Africans can always learn from this and look forward to achieving greater things.
Ghana, Africans salute your courage and dedication even in defeat.
